Jamison Vincent Abrenica was diagnosed with a severe case of aplastic anemia on May 5, 2010. Jamison had undergone test after test, including a bone marrow biopsy and surgery for central line placement for weekly blood draws. Throughout all of this he has stayed strong and happy. Despite all of the poking, prodding, and needles, he still carried a beautiful smile.
At first, the only treatment was to get a bone marrow transplant. Because he is of Filipino-American descent, it may be difficult to find a match for him. His only sister Malia and both of his parents are not matches.
As of September 2010, Jamison’s doctors put his search for a bone marrow match on hold because Jamison responded very well to immunosuppressive therapy.
Jamison is now 4 years old and continues to have follow up doctor appointments and blood draws every three months. He attends preschool, enjoys dribbling a basketball and taking swimming lessons with his older sister. He will enter kindergarten this August. However things can change at any moment and Jamison’s family wants to be proactive and prepared for the future.
Please join and support our family and friends on April 6, 2013, as we
join together as TEAM JAMISON and take part in the Be The Match Walk+Run in San Jose, California. We’re helping Be The Match raise critical funds to help match volunteer donors with patients who have blood diseases and cancers, like leukemia or lymphoma.
And YOU, can help by joining our team or supporting our fundraising efforts with a contribution!
Every four minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Often their only hope for a cure is a marrow transplant. Your contribution to our Be the Match Walk+Run team will help provide that cure by helping add new potential marrow donors to the registry, helping patients struggling with uninsured costs and funding research.
Whether you become a team member or support us with a contribution. We thank you for being someone’s cure. For more info regarding the run walk,
